The pupil premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years. Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, who have been adopted, and children of service personnel.
St. Catharine’s Catholic Primary School currently has 140 children on roll and of those, 11 children (7.9%) were eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant. (January 2015 Pupil Census) The School endeavours to use the Pupil Premium Grant to ensure that children in receipt of Pupil Premium have the same academic, cultural and social opportunities as their peers. St Catharine’s strives for children ‘to reach their full potential and do their best in all that they do’ (School Mission Statement) and Pupil Premium Grant allows all children to live the school motto- ‘Let Your Light Shine.’
