Another school year comes to an end and all of us look forward to a well-earned break. All committees have been kept busy throughout the year. The Finance committee keeping the budget on track and working to secure grants for improvements to the fabric and facilities within the building. The Teaching and Learning committee monitoring the implementation of the new curriculum as well as looking at progress data for all pupils. The After School Club committee has been instrumental in overseeing the transfer of the running of ASC to ‘Kiddiwinks’ on site. The Admissions has been meeting right up until the last week of term to consider in year applications for places for September 2016. In addition the Strategic committee works with Mrs Welch on forward planning for the school, looking at ‘the bigger picture’, including staffing, whole school initiatives and relationships within the wider community.
Throughout the year many governors have endeavoured to support school by undertaking monitoring visits, attending assemblies, sporting events, reflections and Mass with the children in church.
As we get ready to say farewell to those pupils leaving us we will be ready to welcome new faces in September. Amongst those we are particularly sad to say goodbye to two members of staff. Melanie Robinson , who in addition to her time as a Teaching Assistant has given hours of her time voluntarily by coming along on school trips , residential visits, running gardening clubs and supporting her husband Gary in working with our school football team. Mrs Holbrook also is leaving us. She will be very much missed by all here at school. She has worked as Art, Science and R.E. coordinators enthusiastically and imaginatively as well as also serving on the Governing Body.
One final set of thank you messages to Kit West who will leave the board at the end of term after serving as Chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee. Ian Massey our clerk who keeps us all in check and Myra Whitehouse who leads the Board of Governors so very well. A happy holiday to all.
