School Meals, Snacks and Drinks
We have a very successful and popular hot school meals service, with the meals cooked in our own kitchen and served in the school dining hall. Seasonal variations are made and occasionally small changes due to ingredient availability. The current price of a school meal from April 2024 is £2.71. Lunches can be paid for on-line through Parent Pay (an activation letter will be sent to you) or by cash.

Snacks and Drinks
The school promotes a healthy eating policy and is supplied daily with fresh fruit, which is free to all Key Stage 1 pupils. The selection varies, including apples, bananas, satsumas, pears, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber and seasonal fruits such as strawberries.
Cartons of fresh milk are available to all pupils. Milk is free to children under five years of age, and is offered at a subsidised price to children age five upwards.

Pupils bring in healthy snacks Monday-Thursday, with an optional treat snack on Fridays.
Allergy Awareness – Nut-Free School
To keep all of our children safe, St Catharine’s is a nut-free school. This means that no products containing nuts or nut-related ingredients should be brought into school in lunchboxes, snacks, or for events.
This includes:
-
Peanuts (technically a legume, but can trigger severe reactions)
-
Almonds (a seed, but also a common allergen)
-
Cashews, Walnuts, Hazelnuts, Pistachios, and all other tree nuts
-
Nut butters, spreads, and bars (e.g. peanut butter, Nutella)
Although peanuts and almonds are not technically nuts, they are included in this ban because they can cause similar, serious allergic reactions. Even small traces can be dangerous.
We kindly ask all families to check items carefully before sending food into school.
